Guidance for public agencies about working with community groups, based on research exploring relationships between Big Local areas and different public sector agencies.

This guidance is for public agencies currently working with, or seeking to work with, community groups. It draws on our research exploring how resident-led community groups in the Big Local programme have been working with local authorities, health services, schools and housing associations.

The guidance can be used by agencies as a prompt for starting relationships with community groups or as a basis for building and developing relationships where one already exists.

This guidance was drawn from our report published in May 2022, exploring the way Big Local areas connect with public agencies.
