Breaking the cycle: Delivering good jobs for ‘doubly disadvantaged’ neighbourhoods
In this report, the Centre for Progressive Policy (CPP) and Local Trust explore the challenges facing residents in England’s doubly disadvantaged neighbourhoods, and how to bring growth and opportunity to areas stuck in a trap of ‘no jobs or bad jobs'.
This research reveals the challenges faced by 2.3 million people in England living in doubly disadvantaged neighbourhoods. These areas suffer from higher rates of economic inactivity, limited access to good jobs, poor transport links and worse health outcomes than the national average.
In light of the government’s Plan to Make Work Pay, CPP and Local Trust are calling for a renewal of neighbourhood policy. Read the report to discover their key policy solutions and find out more about the realities of good work in these communities.
