Staff pay and reward

Staff are jointly employed between Big Local Trust and Local Trust. The trustees of Local Trust have responsibility for staff pay and reward policy. Read Local Trust’s full remuneration policy here:

Local Trust remuneration policy and statement for 2014-15

Local Trust became a London Living Wage-accredited employer in February 2014, meaning all our staff and contractors are paid at least the London Living Wage.

Local Trust’s approach to pay and reward for staff recognises the need to provide fair pay and reward for each role and to reward staff in a variety of ways, along with the need for salaries to keep pace with inflation and market rates.

The monthly average full-time equivalent number of employees during the year was 10.75. NCVO’s Inquiry into Charity Senior Executive Pay (published in April 2014) recommended that, as good practice, all large charities should publish an annually updated statement explaining their ethos and policy on remuneration, as well as the actual remuneration, roles and names of the highest paid staff.

In line with these recommendations, Local Trust’s trustees decided to publish details of our chief executive’s pay and the ratio between the highest and median salaries in our annual report and accounts.

Our chief executive, Debbie Ladds, earned a salary of £88,001 during 2014-15, plus employer pension contributions of £8,790. As at 31 March 2015, the highest salary at Local Trust was £88,001, the median salary was £34,165 (ratio 2.6 to 1 between highest and median) and the lowest salary was £25,883 (ratio 3.4 to 1 between highest and lowest).
