Bob believes in the importance and potential of people, whatever their background, to make choices and influence decisions about their own futures.
He is co-founder of Practical Governance a partnership working with businesses, foundations, charities, social entrepreneurs and local community groups to find ways to organise that unleash their social impact rather than constrain it, and to challenge traditional power dynamics. He is also one of the convenors of Losing Control a network for people who want to let go of power to accelerate social change.
Before that he spent 15 years at Deloitte UK, first in the Audit & Advisory practice for not-for-profits, then as Director of Responsible Business coordinating the firm’s wider responsible business and sustainability agenda, and finally as Director of Corporate Brand & Marketing. He left Deloitte in 2014 and, as Director of Programmes, helped set up a new £150m Foundation the Power to Change Trust which supports local community-led social businesses across England.
Bob is also an associate of the Social Change Agency who specialise in helping build people-powered social movements.
He is a keen traveller, football fan, a lover of Scottish whisky and treasurer of the Bevy, a community-owned pub in Brighton where he spends far too much of his time.
