For anyone managing a community building, keeping energy costs down is becoming increasingly challenging – with a recent study showing that three out of five community buildings in England do not meet basic energy efficiency requirements.

Many Big Local areas are looking at ways they can increase the energy efficiency of their community buildings and ensure they remain a community asset for the future. That’s why we’ve refreshed the support we have on offer, to help Big Local partnerships to achieve this.

What support is on offer?

As a Big Local partnership, you can access bespoke support from our climate partners, The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) and Locality, to get help with things like:

  • making your community space more energy-efficient
  • exploring the viability of renewable energy in your community
  • helping your community understand the impact of climate change and engaging to respond locally.

Who delivers this support?

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) are an energy charity who work on finding solutions to the threat of climate change and the misery of cold homes.

They have over 40 years of experience in this area and, as Big Local’s climate support partner, they will be able to help areas explore ideas and develop bespoke plans on a range of climate-related issues.

Locality is the national membership network supporting community organisations to be strong and successful. They help local community organisations to set up, own and manage land and buildings, to create spaces where everyone belongs.

DISCLAIMER: Whilst in-area support with our partners is open to all, if certain support offers are oversubscribed, we will need to prioritize this depending on which areas need it most. This doesn’t mean your area will not get to take part in the offer – just that you may have to wait until support has been offered to priority areas first. For more details, read our Make it Happen FAQs.
