Media Trust offer communications support to Big Local areas to help reach the audiences they care about

How does it work?

Media Trust will first offer a free communication audit in the form of a collaborative half day workshop held in your Big Local area. This will be a chance to meet face to face and work out whether Media Trust will be a good fit for your Big Local area. It will also be an opportunity to assess your partnership current communications and better understand the challenges and ambitions.

Using the communication audit to identify your strengths and weaknesses, your partnership can decide what follow up support would be useful, with Media Trust offering a menu of support to choose from. This will include training on storytelling, social media, community content and loads more.

If nothing on the menu quite fits the bill, then your Big Local partnership can design and develop a bespoke training course tailored specifically to meet your priorities. We want this support to fit your partnership’s schedule and Media Trust will be able to match whatever pace you set.

If you choose to have a communications audit and take part in 2 or 3 follow up training workshops, we expect this support to run for around 6 months.

If you’ve had a chat with us already, or you’re confident you want to explore the offer to work with Media Trust, please fill out the Expression of interest form. Once you’ve filled out the form, we can get the communication audit organised.

Media Trust support is long term, it’ll be available until 2021 or as long as Big Local areas need it. The first group of areas will begin in summer 2019, with the offer open between the 27th of may to the 26th of July. The offer will be open to more Big Local areas in autumn 2019 and in spring 2020. There will be room for up to 5 Big Local partnerships to take up the full offer at each stage.

How much does it cost?

Local Trust will cover the cost of the communication audit. This is to make sure your Big Local partnership does not have to commit to partnering with Media Trust until you’ve had a chance to experience the support first hand.

Local Trust will then match fund 50% of the cost of up to 2 full-day follow up training sessions. Media Trust support costs £2,160 for one full day workshop of follow up training. This cost will be split half and half, with both your Big Local area and Local Trust paying £1080 per training session.

If none of the options on the menu of support for different training seem right and you want to design a new training session, this will cost more. We can discuss this with you in more detail should your Big Local area choose this option.
