Youth voice event with Heston West Big Local

This is the first in our series of youth voice events, open to volunteers, active young people*, workers, and partnership members from Big Local. We want this event to be accessible to parents and will have an on-site creche.

*please note young people can only attend if they are with an agreed responsible adult (see note below).

What to expect:

The residential will be an opportunity for you to come together and share experiences around youth engagement and participation, learn about what other Big Locals are doing and understand what good practice looks like. While the event is still being planned it will include opportunities to:

• Get inspiration from Heston West and other Big Locals who will share their approaches and projects working with young people
• Hear directly from young people from these areas about their experience of being involved in Big Local
• Share your area’s experience of youth engagement, build understanding around the need for this work and what support would help you and your area
• Shape the follow up learning events to continue the discussion and learning into the autumn to really impact and support your Big Local area with youth engagement

Times:

Wednesday 26 July, 4.30pm – 8pm (welcome, icebreaker and meal – optional)

Thursday 27 July, 9.30am – 3pm

For this in person event, Local Trust will cover the cost of travel, and if you are attending the activities on Wednesday, we will cover a hotel stay. To make this event accessible to parents, we can provide a creche up to the age of 12. If you have older children, they are welcome to join the session. You will be asked to confirm your requirements when you book your place.

Whilst we actively encourage young people who have been engaged in Big Local areas to attend Local Trust cannot act as responsible adult for any young people attending. If your Big Local would like to bring one or more young people from your area with you, please email suppport@localtrust.org.uk with more information and to confirm that your area will take responsibility for your safeguarding and support.

Youth Series:

This event launches our youth voice series and there will be a further three, two-hour, online events over the autumn. These will take place on:

• Wednesday 20^th September, 10-12
• Wednesday 8^th November, 10-12
• Wednesday 22^nd November, 10-12

To get the most from the series, we would encourage areas who participate in the first event to try and send someone to the other three online events.
