Worker Development Programme

Over the past year, Local Trust has worked with Peas in a Pod Consulting to host four Big Local Worker Network Events. The content for these events has been shaped by workers themselves, to align with their support needs at this stage of the Big Local programme.

Now, in response to the request for ongoing support, we’ve taken the learnings from these events and partnered with Peas in a Pod Consulting and Koreo, to design a six-month learning initiative tailored for Big Local workers.

The programme begins in April 2024 with up to 30 participants.

How to join the programme

Note: The closing date for applications was 5pm on 15 March, we are not taking any more expressions of interest at this time.

No qualifications are needed, what we do ask for is a full commitment to and engagement with the learning schedule.

As long as you are a Big Local worker, you can submit an expression of interest form. Even if your Big Local area is due to close out before the end of September, you can still submit the form.

Find out more

We held a webinar on 29 February about the Worker Development Programme, where attendees could find out more about the programme and ask questions. You can now watch the recording:

You can also contact communications@peasinapodconsulting.org.uk if you have specific questions about the programme.

What are the benefits to workers of taking part?

Participating in the Worker Development Programme will:

  • Support your professional development, providing opportunities for you to refine your existing skills and acquire new ones, paving the way for career advancement.
  • Equip you with the necessary tools and confidence to effectively navigate the close out period and conclude the Big Local programme successfully. This in turn will positively impact your Big Local area and the broader communities you serve.
  • Connect you with other Big Local workers and expand your network. You will have space for reflective practice, to share challenges and successes and to learn from others.
  • Give you access to support tailored to your needs and context, including one-to-one coaching sessions and facilitated peer-to-peer learning.
  • Enable you to contribute to the growth of the wider community development sector, strengthening your skills as champions of community-led change.

The programme has been designed so that you will feel heard, seen, recognised, valued, more confident and less alone in what we know can sometimes be a lonely role.
