Liberal Democrat party conference, 20 September – 23 September

Civil Society reception

Sunday 21 September, 7:45pm | Sherborne Room, Hycliff Marriott Hotel, Bournemouth

Hosted by Lloyds Bank Foundation with Local Trust and the Royal Voluntary Service

Our communities are filled with hopeful, determined people making the lives of their neighbours better. But after the challenges of the last half decade, the cracks in the charity sector are showing. There are simply not enough funds or volunteers to meet need.

Join us as we discuss why civil society needs policymakers to unite behind three changes: unlocking charitable giving – through a national philanthropy strategy and local government partnerships; investment in social infrastructure; and support for volunteering.

Speakers include:

  • Matt Hyde, Chief Executive, Lloyds Bank Foundation
  • Catherine Johnstone, Chief Executive, RVS
  • Rachel Rowney, Chief Executive, Local Trust
  • Lisa Smart, MP for Hazel Grove and Home Affairs and Women and Equalities spokesperson
  • Max Wilkinson, MP for Cheltenham and Culture, Media and Sports spokesperson
  • Chair: Nicole Sykes, Director of Policy, Lloyds Bank Foundation
