With the Big Local programme nearing its close in March 2026, we’re turning our attention to the achievements, impact and stories that will shape its legacy.

Over the past 15 years, residents in Big Local areas across England have worked together to create lasting change,  transforming their neighbourhoods, strengthening connections, and improving lives.

Now, with less than six months to go before the Big Local programme comes to an end in March 2026, we’re marking this important milestone by sharing the stories, reflections, and achievements of the people who made it all happen.

To capture these moments, we’ve filmed a new series of short interviews with Big Local residents, workers, and partners. Each video focuses on a different theme, from their proudest achievements and lessons learned, to the lasting impact and legacy Big Local will leave in their communities.

Watch the first video in the series below, which focuses on the impact Big Local has made on the lives of those who made it happen, the lasting change in local places and the confidence communities have built for the future.

Over the coming weeks, you’ll hear directly from the people behind Big Local. Residents, workers and partners will reflect on what they’ve achieved and what the programme has meant to their communities, as we build towards the end of Big Local in March 2026.

Follow us on LinkedIn and Facebook to be the first to see new videos as they’re released, and to hear more about our plans to celebrate the incredible difference Big Local has made right across England since 2011.
