This online learning event is the latest in a series aimed primarily at Big Local areas who are thinking about setting up a new legal entity or are in the early stages of doing so. This event will build on conversations and feedback from our first session in June.

Partnership members and others from Big Locals that have already set-up a legal body may also find this session useful in terms of clarifying their roles and responsibilities and sharing their journey with others.

  • The interactive session will cover the following key areas:
  • A reminder of the different legal forms and their regulatory bodies
  • Responsibilities of Directors and Trustees
  • Recruiting Directors and Trustees and succession planning
  • Dealing with conflicts of interest
  • Sharing different Big Local experiences including hearing from areas who have been through incorporation processes already
  • A chance to ask questions and discuss

This session will be delivered by Locality, Local Trusts lead support partner on assets and legal bodies.

There will be opportunities to ask questions, share your challenges and learn from the experiences of other Big Local areas. We cannot offer qualified legal advice in specific circumstances, but we will cover how to work effectively with solicitors and other legal professionals.

This is a follow-on Zoom session from a previous event in June. You don’t need to have attended that session to come to this one. All are welcome from Big Local areas. If you’d like to see the resources from our previous session please contact us.
