Big Local chairs network: Working effectively with volunteer board members

In this online chairs networking session, chairs will have an opportunity to explore some of the challenges of working with volunteer board members. Some of the top volunteer management challenges are:

• Recruitment
• Inspiring Volunteer Leadership
• Passing the Torch to New Volunteers
• Getting Board Members to Step Up
• Retaining Volunteers Long-Term

In this session you will have the opportunity to explore what tools you may already have and what additional tools you can access to help navigate these potential challenges.

12.30 pm – Welcome and introduction

12.40 pm – Networking. Using breakout rooms there will be an opportunity to connect as Chairs and identify topics/issues of common interest that you would like to follow up outside of the session.

1.00 pm – Working effectively with volunteer board members – this session will involve discussions in breakout rooms and sharing of ideas through asking Chairs to explore the following 3 key questions:

• What tools already exist in your toolkit?
• What other tools do you need?
• What’s the process to acquire those tools?

1.20 pm – Reflection and learning
