Worker Network events programme

As a Big Local worker, you are in a unique role that is integral to the achievements of your Big Local area and we understand that you encounter both challenges and opportunities.

Building on the success of the Worker Development Programme in 2024, Local Trust is again partnering with Peas in a Pod Consulting, to offer bespoke events for Big Local workers whose areas are active in the programme.

Events will take place in the spring and summer of 2025. They will foster connections, offer peer support, and enable knowledge sharing and build on popular themes including wellbeing, managing change and employability.

What are the benefits of attending?

Attending these Worker Network events will:

  • Equip you with the necessary tools to effectively navigate the close out period and conclude the Big Local programme successfully.
  • Connect you with other Big Local workers and expand your network. You will have space for reflection, to share challenges and successes, and to learn from others.
  • Give you access to support tailored to your needs and context, through facilitated peer-to-peer learning.
  • Enable you to contribute to the growth of the wider community development sector, strengthening your skills as champions of community-led change.
  • Support your professional development, providing opportunities for you to refine your existing skills and acquire new ones.

How will the programme be structured?

The programme has been designed so that you will feel heard, seen, recognised, valued, more confident and less alone in what we know can sometimes be a lonely role.

There will be:

  • three online sessions
  • two in-person events in London and two in the North West

This programme has been designed to enable flexible participation, so you don’t have to attend all the sessions. You can sign up to each event individually, enabling you to drop in to what you’re most interested in.

Please note: you can only attend two of the four in person events, as these are regional and content will be duplicated.

The sessions are designed to be reflective and responsive to feedback from participants throughout. The content will be developed between sessions.

Overview of the events programme

What resources will be available?

Content used in the programme will be uploaded to a resource hub, full of learning materials to help you in your role now and beyond.

You will be able to access these resources whenever you need them. Where relevant, content will also be shared more widely with all Big Local workers, so as many people as possible can benefit from these resources.
