Read moreDavid Warner has been appointed chair of Local Trust, with Miatta Fahnbulleh and Caroline Macfarland also joining its board of trustees.
With over 30 years working in the voluntary and community sector and an existing trustee of Local Trust, David will take on the role from late November.
Now working across the UK as a consultant in social change and strategic philanthropy, David was formerly the chief executive of London Funders, the membership network for funders and investors in London’s Civil Society. Previous chief executive roles included the National Animal Welfare Trust and Homeless Network. David will be taking over from Kevin Sugrue who is stepping down after six years in the role, he will remain a trustee.
Commenting on his appointment, David said “The whole principle behind Local Trust is inspiring and goes right to the very heart of social change. Having met many of the people involved I am proud to have been asked to chair this organisation as it continues to deliver real change for communities across the country.”
As well as a new chair, Local Trust will be welcoming Miatta Fahnbulleh, chief executive of the New Economics Foundation and Caroline Macfarland, founder and director of think tank Common Vision, to its board of trustees.
Matt Leach, chief executive of Local Trust, added “This is an exciting time for Local Trust, we are halfway through the delivery of the Big Local programme and learning so much about community-led change. Kevin has been a brilliant chair and led us to support 150 Big Local areas whilst simultaneously developing ways to share valuable learning to inform policy and practice. Now, we are looking forward to what comes next with David.
“I’m also really pleased to welcome Caroline and Miatta and know their unique expertise will add a great deal to our work.”
