Loneliness and social isolation

Local Trust launched a new learning cluster series aimed at supporting Big Local areas working on alleviating loneliness and social isolation.

Participants will:

  • Grow a greater understanding of the causes and impacts of loneliness and social isolation among different groups of people.
  • Gain a strong set of practical tools and ideas to alleviate isolation in local areas.
  • Share innovative ideas and interventions with other Big Local areas
  • Have established connections with experts to draw on.
  • Feel enthused and prepared to go back to their local communities and make a difference.

This cluster series was facilitated by Claire Turner and Sarah Frost who have a range of experience relating to establishing and facilitating learning networks and supporting organisations and communities to tackle loneliness and isolation.

Learning & Networking events are open to all those living and working in Big Local areas, but we do expect attendees to bring some knowledge of the Big Local programme with them, and to feed back the learning from the event to support the delivery of the Big Local plan. Where events are oversubscribed we need to give priority to people who are supporting the delivery of Big Local in their area.
