Over 140 Big Locals are involved in the food system, from running food banks to funding community kitchens with aims of tackling food insecurity, social isolation and more. We know there is great appetite for looking beyond simply plugging the gaps in a failing system, to make meaningful change that harnesses the power of food to build communities.

This ‘Beyond the Foodbank’ event is aimed at providing Big Local Areas with the space to share ideas and experiences, gain inspiration and develop the tools to begin new, exciting food journeys. Join us for a packed day that will provide Food for Thought including:

  • Practical advice for starting or expanding a current food project in your area.
  • A unique opportunity to meet and influence funders who work within the food system, alongside learning from other Big Local Partnerships and community groups.
  • Showcasing stories of real-world innovation happening already such as the work of the Heart of BS13.
  • Hearing a vision for a sustainable, equitable future developed through research and discussions over the past year in partnership with the Food Farming and Countryside Commission; Explore how the work in your communities can contribute to this transformation.
