Setting up a legal body
Training for Big Local areas considering legal entities, either for the first time or in the early stages of development.
This training session is primarily for those Big Local areas who are thinking about setting up a new legal entity or are at the early stages of doing so. Directors and trustees of Big Local connected organisations that have been through the process may also find it useful in terms of clarifying their roles and responsibilities and sharing their journey with others.
The session will be interactive and will cover the following key areas:
- What is incorporation?
- Why would you want to incorporate?
- Choosing a legal structure
- Regulatory bodies
- Charitable status
There will be opportunity to ask questions, discuss your challenges and situations and learn from the experiences of other Big Local area. We cannot offer qualified legal advice in specific circumstances, but we will cover how to work effectively with solicitors and other legal professionals.
