About this event

Big Local is all about shifting the status quo and making things better in your community, but making change happen can be difficult. It’s a complex process which involves changing hearts and minds, understanding decision making, and knowing when and how to act.

This cluster will support you to identify and prioritise different people and organisations you can involve with your campaign and consider the different ways to approach them.

By the end of the learning cluster you will:

  • Learn how campaigning contributes to social change and how it can help your Big Local.
  • Have conversations with other Big Local areas and campaigners who’ve made a lasting impact in their local communities and learn about the practical steps you can take.
  • Develop new and innovative ideas about how to work with your local community and decision makers.

How do I join?

The cluster will be facilitated by Sue Tibballs and Chloe Hardy from The Sheila McKechnie Foundation with the first meeting being held on the 27 and 28 of February 2019 in London. If you are interested in finding out more, please email programmes@localtrust.org.uk, and either Sue or Chloe will contact you to discuss what you want to get out of the cluster.

Each area can send either one or two people to the cluster, but we do ask that those individuals aim to attend all four sessions if at all possible as each session will build on the learning from those that came before.

If you are attending a Big Local event as part of your paid work/employment then we ask that your employer cover your expenses. However, we can pay or contribute towards worker’s expenses in exceptional circumstances. Please ask when booking for further information.
