Addressing loneliness and creating social connections have become more important to communities during coronavirus. Therefore, the loneliness and social isolation cluster is being opened up so all Big Local areas can learn and benefit through a series of one-off events.
This online event will explore the issue of youth loneliness. Through the event, we want participants to:
- Increase their knowledge and understanding of how loneliness affects young people
- Share what they are doing in their own communities to engage young people
- Come away with new ideas about what more they could do to connect with more young people in their community
Ella Smyth, Programmes and Partnerships Advisor at the Co-op Foundation will present some findings from their research on youth loneliness and share examples from practice of activities aimed at addressing the issue, offering some ideas for addressing loneliness among young people.
Following Ella’s presentation, there will be time for Q&A followed by small group sessions where Big Local areas will have an opportunity to reflect on what they have heard and share what they are doing locally.
Learning and Networking with Big Local aims to foster skills, enthusiasm and connections. Open to all Big Local areas, we invite you to take part and share your ideas.
