How can communities campaign for improvements, develop ways to improve the space and find uses for the water?
Coastal and inland water are a feature of many Big Local areas, providing access to leisure opportunities, tranquility and wildlife. At the same time, these areas can be polluted, neglected and flood. Water bodies present both a risk, and an opportunity but Big Local areas have a lot to offer in shaping and planning how communities can prepare for floods, look after water bodies and enjoy them.
This fourth event in the Love your Environment learning cluster will be an introduction to the statutory agencies that have responsibility for many bodies of water in England and an analysis of the risks and opportunities associated with water. Attendees will hear about the many ways communities can campaign for improvements, prepare for floods, develop ways to improve the space and work with local interest groups to find uses for the water. Many Big Local areas are making an impact in this area and the event is chance to learn and network with other representatives of Big Local areas.
