Harefield, Midanbury and Townhill Park (Big Local S018)

In Southampton, £1 million over 10 years has been allocated to areas of Harefield, Midanbury and Townhill Park.

We asked local residents how they felt the money should be spent, and how life for people in their communities could be improved. From their responses, a plan was developed, which concentrates on the key themes of community spirit, environment, local issues, people & money and young people. To find out more about how we decided on these themes, download our community profile. Lots of work is now underway in each of these areas.

SO18 Big Local is run by local volunteers that typically meet once a month to discuss progress, what to do next and plan things to do in the local community. This group is supported by two local workers, as well as a community development worker. But in order to maintain momentum we need more volunteers to come forward. No experience/qualifications are necessary - just bring yourself and your ideas! This is a great opportunity to be part of a project that has the capacity to bring about real change locally, and put local people’s ideas into action.
