Ewanrigg

Save area

Ewanrigg is in the north west of England, located on the west coast of Cumbria overlooking the Solway Firth. Ewanrigg is a residential suburb within Maryport. The Big Local area does not include the whole of the Ewanrigg electoral ward.

Bleak deprivation statistics are in stark contrast to the pride, optimism and respect for their community that Ewanrigg residents report. Residents talk about the ‘community spirit’ of the estate, describing friendliness, knowing their neighbours and always having someone to talk to. There is a strong sense of community pride and identity forged by the care that spans across the generations.

The community are unanimous in their opinion about what is good and what needs to change on the estate. With these strong foundations the community can take the next step in the Big Local process towards positive change whilst holding sacrosanct those things that make Ewanrigg a united and strong community.
