Canvey's Big Local £1 million

Save area

The Canvey Big Local Area centres on the two wards of Winter Gardens and Canvey Island Central. Predominantly made up of social housing, this area is a remote part of the region. Canvey Island is separated from the south Essex mainland by a network of creeks and, lying just above sea level, is prone to flooding at exceptional tides. The area is densely populated with around 7,500 people, and has a lot of community action at a very local level.

The Canvey Big Local Partnership Group is a group of people who guide the overall direction of Canvey’s Big Local. The majority (at least 51%) of partnership members must be people who live within our Big Local area and the Group is actively looking for more local residents to join. The Partnership is responsible for agreeing a shared vision by engaging local residents, creating the Big Local plan, overseeing its delivery, collecting evidence to show how the plan is progressing, and reviewing the plan and partnership to make sure they are working in the best way possible.

Essex Boys and Girls Clubs is the locally trusted organisation for Canvey Big Local.
