About this event

This event is an opportunity for Big Local areas to explore how they can shape localplanning policy, in particular, through neighbourhood planning and neighbourhood development orders, to improve Big Local areas. You will also be able to share experiences with each other and be introduced to new digital tools which can help you make planning smarter and more inclusive.

Who is this for?

It is for people in Big Local areas who want to:

  • Engage with housing developers and influence how their contributions to infrastructure are spent
  • Build a constructive and lasting relationship with local authorities
  • Find out how other Big Local areas working to shape local planning policy and develop neighbourhood plans

Further information

Speakers will be sharing their experiences of how Big Local areas have been developing neighbourhood plans, connect helpful resources to the Big Local programme and bring together workers, partnership members or volunteers who want to be part of a peer group focused on planning. Watch this video to learn how Lawrence Weston, who will be presenting at this event, have influenced planning in their area:

For those areas that can stay for the second session, run in collaboration with Neighbourhood Planners London, there will be an opportunity to look at online tools that make planning easier and outcomes more impactful. This will be a chance to meet with neighbourhood planners outside of the Big Local programme.

The main session will run from 3-6pm and the following session will run from 6-9pm. There may be similar events run in the Midlands, North and West if there is sufficient interest. More information to follow. Light refreshments will be available.
