About this event

Please note this event is now fully booked

Creating a community hub is a priority in many Big Local areas.  A community hub is a building run by the community, for the community, for social and recreational purposes as well as information and training opportunities, and often providing local services, such as a pre-school.

  • This day will provide a practical guide to setting up and managing a community hub, culminating in a checklist of ‘essential tasks and things to consider’.
  • The event will be facilitated by an experienced community buildings advisor, with technical expertise in all matters relating to community hubs.
  • We will provide information about governance, funding, marketing, insurance and support services for community hubs.
  • There will be lots of practical ideas to share as well as plenty of time for networking.

Who is this for?

It is for people in Big Local areas who:

  • are considering the ownership (or lease) of a community building
  • are seeking information about appropriate governance structures
  • want to find out more about day-to day management – hiring agreements, licensing, accounting, employment, risk assessment etc. and the roles of paid staff and volunteers.
