Essay commission: Community-led sports
Talented freelance journalist or writer
Closing date: 31 October 2018
Local Trust was established in 2012 to deliver Big Local. Big Local is an exciting and unique approach to place-based funding, which supports people in 150 areas to make a difference to the things that matter most to them. The Big Lottery-funded programme has committed £1m to 150 local areas in England for resident-led activities.
To help understand the context and relevance of Big Local, Local Trust has invited a range of writers, thinkers and researchers to reflect on the programme, allowing them space and scope unavailable in other media.
We are now inviting pitches from talented journalists who want to help tell the story of community-led sports in a compelling essay of 9,000-12,000 words. The essay will be published as part of our series exploring how people and places are changing through Big Local, and will consider the lessons of Big Local for institutions and policymakers interested in radical devolution of power and responsibility to community level.
Offer: c £4,000, depending on experience
Guidelines: Please download the pitch document for more details.
Deadline: 31 October 2018
