Communications intern

Six months fixed term paid role from April 2019

Closing date: 24 March 2019

Location: London
Salary: £19,749.60 pa (equivalent to London Living Wage, based on a 36hr week)

We’re looking for a recent graduate/post-graduate in English, media and communications, marketing or related subjects to join us to help deliver the most radical and exciting community investment programme in living memory.

The Big Local programme is supporting 150 local communities with £1.1m each to spend on improving their neighbourhoods. There are almost no strings attached – all that’s required is that local residents come together and put together a plan around how they intend to make best use of the money. We support them in developing the skills and confidence to deliver on their plan. It’s a radical experiment in devolving power and resources to a hyper-local level, transforming places and lives along the way.And in delivering it, we are learning a huge amount about how communities work; the potential and the limits of our approach; and what it might mean for policy making, both nationally and locally, as addressing issues of place, inclusion and shared economic prosperity become ever more important parts of our public debate.

Main purpose of the role

The main purpose of the role is to help us develop and deliver our communications strategy, with a particular focus on building relationships with our target audiences at events, online and on social media.

How to apply

Please submit a CV and a covering letter demonstrating your suitability for the role to putting Communications Intern in the subject line.

Appropriately qualified candidates will be invited for interview on a rolling basis i.e. as applications come in.

We hope to have someone in post from Monday 8th April 2019.
